Your future is uncertain, but planning for it can put you at ease

As Benjamin Franklin once said centuries ago, there are only two certainties in life - death and taxes. The line still rings true today. Although we all know that our taxes are due on or near April 15 of each year, no one knows the day they will die. With that in mind, the importance of preparing for your future cannot be understated. Of course, it could be put off until tomorrow, but since tomorrow isn't guaranteed, why risk the wait?

A living will is not actually a will, it is documentation informing family, close friends and medical professionals what to do if you become incapacitated. Every day Americans fall victim to accidents, often leaving the victim with severe, life-threatening catastrophic injuries. This is where a living will comes into play. A living will give specific instructions on how you are to be treated and handled if you are in a condition such a coma or on life support, and you are unable to communicate.

This is important not only for your best interests and your wishes, but to prevent issues among family members and friends who may have differing opinions on how to handle your injuries, illness or condition. At our law firm, we do our best to serve our clients in the Fort Myers area with all aspects of probate and estate administration, including but not limited to wills, living wills, will executions, trust administration and probate litigation. We are here to serve our clients and to do our best to assure that their wishes are met and documented, so you can live each day with peace of mind knowing that if the unthinkable were to happen your wishes will be met.
